Description

Some more Rune for your viewing pleasure. Thought I’d try a sort of chibi thing and I’d say it went pretty well. Might draw a few other characters in a similar way ovo
This pretty drawing isn’t all I’ve got- I developed his character some too, ayy

Name: Rune Erebus
Species: Vampire
Age: 530 years (appears to be around 25)
Birthdate: October 25th, 1486

Some stuffs:
-Rune is quite reserved and tries to stay to himself for the majority of the time, the primary reason being that over the hundreds of years he’s been around he has built up a lot of relationships with humans, whether that be romantic or platonic, and he has been hit many times with the harsh reality that humans don’t live for very long in the grand scheme of things and that they are subject to death in many ways. He got tired of putting up with that kind of pain, so now he tries to distance himself from others. He doesn’t like to talk to people more than he has to and he tries to stay away from building up any sort of relationship with others. For these reasons, he can come off as quite cold and uncaring. He doesn’t usually show a lot of emotion, opting to appear as if he doesn’t have any. He is easily agitated, however, and can be quite short tempered.  He often comes off as rude or arrogant as he is known to ignore or talk down to people. He’s very stubborn and it takes a lot to change his mind. You only stand a chance if you have a good relationship with him. To those he becomes close to he tends to show a slightly different side, more kind and compassionate, still quite stoic but tries to be more sensitive. He tends to be quite subtle with his feelings still but does or says small things to show that he cares.
-Due to his avoidant behaviour, Rune has come to look down on humanity. To him, they are very much the lesser species, and he sees them almost purely as food. He doesn’t care about the lives he takes and so kills without mercy or guilt. He didn’t always feel this way, though. For the first hundred years of his existence, Rune showed compassion for humanity, remembering his life from before and wishing that he could be like them. He was very careful not to kill or seriously harm anyone, and if he did he would feel extremely guilty. He’d often drink from animals instead. But after seeing and learning what humanity was really like, he began to care less. He has seen just how awful they can be to each other. If they can kill each other with little to no mercy or guilt then why shouldn’t he? In his eyes, humans are just as bad as him, if not worse, when it comes to taking lives. He refuses to feel bad. Through this belief he has come to develop some sadistic tendencies when it comes to feeding, going so far as to kidnap a human and keep them alive in the basement of his home over a period of days where he periodically feeds from them until he finally decides to off them.
-Although he has a good amount of self-control, Rune has the capacity to become an extremely feral, predatory creature, and can be more beast like than his human appearance suggests. He will growl, hiss, snarl, and curl his lips back when provoked, baring his fangs as a sign of aggression. Despite this nature, he is fully capable of human emotions such as compassion, love and self-control. However, it is in his nature to be violent, and no matter his morality or status of relationship with others, he will always resort to such acts if necessary for his survival.
-Although he tries very hard to avoid the company of others, he does enjoy it. He likes feeling loved, and being alone forever is definitely a fear of his. He wishes he was able to have a family and friends without fear of one day losing them. He misses having brothers and sisters. He misses his mother. He misses having a close circle of friends. Sometimes he gets envious seeing other people involving themselves in interaction with their families or friends. But even so, he would still rather deal with loneliness than loss.
-On a lighter note, he enjoys the taste of apple.
-Vampires can eat human food, though it does nothing to sustain their lives or provide any nutrition like blood does. Regardless, some vampires eat human food regularly, perhaps out of habit, to blend in more and prevent their exposure, or because they like the taste. Rune usually only eats human food if he really enjoys the taste of it, but otherwise, doesn’t bother.
-Rune exclusively drinks human blood and thinks that the idea that a vampire would be able to live comfortably on animal blood is stupid. Animal blood does not contain all of the nutrients that a vampire needs to function at their best (also it tastes terrible compared to human blood) – for this lifestyle they would have to feed often or drink the animal blood in larger quantities each time they do feed in order to maintain their strength, but even then they wouldn’t be as strong as if they were drinking human blood.  Human blood is the only kind that is able to fully maintain a vampire's strength. The best blood is drunk directly from a living human, and Rune prefers it this way. However, refrigerated blood will do as well. Sometimes rune will purchase blood on the black market.
-Blood does not only satisfy a vampire’s thirst but also heightens their supernatural abilities, making them stronger, faster and able to heal much more quickly than they would after not eating for a significant period of time. The longer a vampire abstains from blood the more likely they are to become feral and unable to resist feeding on whoever they come across. Hunger presents its self as an ache in the fangs that will get worse over time and is eventually accompanied by a burning sensation in the throat.
-Usually, Rune feeds about once a week, draining an entire adult human of their blood in the process, but isn’t opposed to drinking more.
-He sells the corpses of his victims on the black market – sometimes whole, and sometimes he’ll spend a little while carefully taking them apart to sell things like organs and limbs separately. This is his main source of income.
-There are a few parts of his biology could raise question to his species. The two main ones being his cat-like pupils and his larger, sharper canines, or fangs. His skin is also paler, and cool to the touch. His eyes shift from his usual blue to a red colour when he consumes blood and stays like that for a few hours afterwards.
- He does have a heartbeat, however, it is much slower than that of humans, being around 20-25 beats per minute.
-He doesn’t necessarily need to breathe but does so mostly out of habit. Breathing is also necessary for talking.
-Doesn’t need sleep, but in the case of being badly wounded or ill then he will, as it aids the healing process.
-Likes to keep a log of his thoughts, feelings and any particularly important events, and so often writes in journals. Over the years he has filled up many, and so they have their own section in the library. Sometimes he goes back and reads through them.
-For a human to become a vampire an exchange of blood must be made. The vampire must first bite the human and consume quite a bit of their blood. After this, the human has to consume some of the vampires blood, at least a good few gulps. The vampire’s blood, in this case, is essentially a poison to the human, and will induce an illness that will progressively get worse over the course of a few days, until they die. The infected human will then wake as a hungry vampire.
-A human consuming vampire blood on any other occasion does nothing.
-Rune doesn’t like to think or talk about his transformation. It wasn’t a very nice experience for him.
-For Rune to become drunk he must drink copious amounts of alcohol. Drugs have no effect on him.
-He lives in a three-story mansion that he purchased in the 1800s, very close to, but secluded from, a nearby city. It is surrounded by a tall stone wall which has a gate entrance, usually locked. The gardens at both the back and the front are left unkempt, as Rune generally doesn’t care for the outer appearance of his home. The inside, however, is beautifully decorated. The first floor includes a large foyer, the kitchen, the dining room, a pantry that leads down to the basement, one of two living rooms, the piano room and a bathroom. The second floor includes the second living room, the master bedroom and two other bedrooms, a bathroom and a study. The third floor includes the library, two more bedrooms, the servants quarters and a bathroom. Despite all of these bedrooms, Rune lives alone.

Powers and abilities:
-Strength: Vampires are much stronger than humans and slowly grow stronger with time. They always have the advantage of superior strength in direct combat with humans. Rune is able to do things like toss an adult across the room with great speed and force, single-handedly lift a person off the ground by the throat and snap their neck, rip a persons head off with his bare hands, and is able to rip out internal organs such as hearts with little to no effort.
-Speed: Vampires are much faster than humans. Rune can accelerate his movements to cover short distances in an instant, usually faster than the human eye can see. When running across long distances he appears as a vibrating blur of motion. His reflexes are similarly heightened, allowing him to be able to catch certain projectiles, such as arrows, with ease. Like strength, speed improves with age.
-Agility: Vampires possess super-human agility. Rune is able to move quietly, jump very high or from great heights without injury, climb things with ease, and run incredibly fast without difficulty or exhaustion. This ability also increases with age.
-Super senses: Vampires have an extremely keen sense of hearing, sight and smell that far exceed those of humans. Rune is able to hear whispered conversations, ones on the phone and even ones in separate buildings. However, he, like most vampires, has learned to tune out most ambient noises when it’s not necessary to hear them. He can smell blood from several metres away, and see very well in total darkness. These senses improve and grow stronger with age.
-Durability: Vampires can take a great amount of physical damage without being slowed down. Even vampires who have been shot with wooden bullets, which have a weakening effect on them,  can continue to fight as long as they haven’t been shot in the heart.
-Healing: Vampires can regenerate tissue from any form of physical damage within seconds, though they still feel the pain of a wound before it heals. Rune can snap his bones back into place after they’ve been broken and can fully recover from gunshots, stab wounds and even torso impalement very quickly, so long as he has consumed a regular diet of human blood prior to the injury. He can not grow back body parts, only re-attach the body part back.
-Immortality: Rune stopped ageing once turned. Upon his transformation, he became immune to all conventional illnesses, diseases, viruses and infections.
-Special ability – Mind control: Some vampires are gifted with special abilities upon their transformation, which can be practically anything. These gifts are quite rare, though, and sometimes not immediately apparent. Some may need to be developed and improved over time. Rune has the ability to influence and control the thoughts, emotions and behaviour of others to an extent, also being able to minorly alter memories.

Weaknesses:
-Animal blood: Consuming animal blood weakens a vampire's strength.
-Broken neck: Breaking a vampire’s neck will not kill them, but render them unconscious for varying amounts of time depending on age and diet.
- Decapitation: One of two methods of killing a vampire. Their head must be removed by any means and the remains burned.
-Heart extraction:  One of two methods of killing a vampire. Their heart must be removed from their body and the remains burned.
-Invitation: Vampires cannot enter a home without an invitation by the owner.
-Magic: Vampires are susceptible to the power of witchcraft. Witches can use magic to cause agonising pain by inducing aneurysm in the brain or muscle spasms, telekinetically rip out their hearts or snap their necks and magically increase their hunger for blood to unbearable levels.
-Physical trauma: Minor physical injuries such as gunshots, stab wounds and broken bones will cause pain and also slow them down. However, this is momentary as they will heal completely very quickly so long as they haven’t been weakened by other means such as garlic consumption.
-Sunlight: Vampires are able to do activities in the sunlight,  but not for extended periods of time otherwise they’ll suffer more extreme versions of a human sunburn.
-Wood: Wounding a vampire with a wooden weapon such as wooden bullets will incapacitate them and wounds will take longer to heal than injuries inflicted by other substances.  Contrary to popular belief, staking a vampire through the heart with wood will not kill them. However, it will immobilise them and cause great pain whilst they try to pull it out.
-Garlic: This burns the skin of a vampire if they come into contact with it and ingesting it can cause them to become severely feverish and weak to the point that it can hinder their healing abilities.
-Crosses or other religious symbols/weapons: If the person wielding the holy weapon has real faith in their religion then it will successfully drive away a vampire. Religious symbols repel vampires by producing an unbearable ringing sound in their ears and cause them to flee. Holy water will burn their skin, like acid, and the wound will take considerably longer to heal. Vampires are made mildly uncomfortable by religious things in general (e.g. hearing a bible passage being read aloud can irritate them).
Silver: Pure undiluted silver (or nearly so) will hurt a vampire in a similar way to garlic and holy water, by burning their skin. Wounds created by silver will take longer to heal and cause considerably more pain than wounds inflicted by other materials.
